Ant Extermination in Brossard, the South Shore and Greater Montreal
Squishing the ants you see solves nothing: the colony keeps growing. And if they're carpenter ants, your wood is paying the price. We find the nest, eliminate the colony and show you how to keep them from coming back.
Signs of an ant problem
Repeated ant trails
A few stray ants is normal. Constant routes to the kitchen or pantry means a colony is feeding at your place.
Sawdust near woodwork
Carpenter ants push out the wood they excavate. Small piles of fine sawdust under a beam or window are a serious signal.
Winged ants indoors
In spring, winged ants inside the house usually point to a nest established in the structure, not a passing visit.
Rustling in the walls
A large carpenter ant colony can actually be heard: a dry rustling in the wall, especially at night.
Why they're in your home
Ants are after food and moisture. One crumb is enough to create a chemical trail that hundreds of others will follow. Outside, nests thrive in lawns, under slabs and in dead wood, a few metres from your foundation.
Carpenter ants: the serious case
Unlike termites, carpenter ants don't eat wood: they hollow it out to nest in it. They go for damp or damaged wood first, around windows, basement joists and decks. Over the years, the galleries weaken the structure. On the South Shore this is common in homes in mature neighbourhoods. A carpenter ant nest won't be solved with drugstore products: you have to find the main nest and often satellite nests too.
Our treatment process
- 1
Inspection
We follow the trails, look for sawdust and damp wood, and locate the nest or nests, indoors and out.
- 2
Treatment plan
The plan depends on the species. We explain the difference and the price before starting.
- 3
Treatment
Targeted treatment of the nest and trails. For carpenter ants, satellite nests get treated too.
- 4
Follow-up
We confirm activity has stopped, especially with carpenter ants, where one missed nest restarts the problem.
- 5
Guarantee
Written guarantee. If the ants come back during the covered period, so do we.
Why act fast
A mature colony produces queens that found new colonies. With carpenter ants, every extra season means more galleries in your framing. Treating a young nest is simple; treating a network of nests that's been there for years is much less so.
The damp wood that attracts carpenter ants attracts other pests too. See our pages on spiders and cockroaches. In the area? Check our exterminator in Brossard page.
Frequently asked questions
Do hardware store products work?
They kill the ants you can see, not the colony. Worse: some sprays panic the colony into splitting into several nests. Professional baits work differently: the workers carry the product back to the nest.
How do I know if they're carpenter ants?
They're among the largest ants in Quebec, usually black, and active in the evening. Sawdust near woodwork is the classic clue. When in doubt, the inspection settles it: it's free.
How many treatments does it take?
Often just one for pavement or kitchen ants. Carpenter ants may need a follow-up to confirm the main nest and satellites are gone.
Do carpenter ants mean my house is ruined?
No. Caught in time, they cause limited, repairable damage. It's the infestation ignored for years that gets expensive. An inspection tells you exactly where you stand.
Is the treatment safe for my family?
Yes. Baits are placed out of reach and products are applied under strict protocols. The technician walks you through the precautions, usually minimal, before starting.
